When I reflect on my journey in education, one belief has guided me from the very beginning: schools are at their best when people feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.  

As Dr. Simon Obas, my career has never been about titles or positions. Instead, it has been about creating environments where students can thrive, educators can grow, and communities can come together around a shared vision. 

Throughout my years in education, I have learned that meaningful change does not happen through policies alone. It happens through relationships, trust, and commitment to serving others.  

Every leadership role I have held has reinforced my belief that strong schools are built by investing in people first. That philosophy continues to shape how I lead, collaborate, and support those around me.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work alongside talented educators, dedicated staff members, supportive families, and remarkable students. Through those experiences, I have developed several leadership principles that continue to guide my work and decision-making. 

Building Strong Relationships First 

One of the most important lessons I have learned as Dr. Simon Obas is that relationships are the foundation of every successful school. Before academic goals can be achieved, people need to feel connected, respected, and heard. 

I have always believed that trust is earned through consistent actions and open communication. When teachers know they are supported and students know they are valued, a school becomes more than just a place of learning.

A positive culture is built through shared expectations, mutual respect, and a commitment to continuous improvement. I have seen firsthand how a strong culture can transform a school by increasing collaboration, strengthening morale, and improving outcomes for students. 

When people feel safe to contribute ideas and pursue excellence, they become active participants in the success of the entire organization.

Leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about creating opportunities for others to lead and contribute their strengths. 

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work has been helping educators discover their potential as leaders. I believe that schools become stronger when leadership is shared and when individuals are encouraged to take ownership of their growth and development.
